[My collagen is faulty so my ligaments are too stretchy and my joints come out of place and injure very easily. My insides are stretchy too. sometimes I look find, sometimes I use crutches or braces or a wheelchair. Yes, it hurts and is exhausting. Yes, I fall over a lot and am clumsy. I am still waiting to see if I will be classified as having “benign” hypermobility or Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. My rheumatologist refused to do the usual tests on me for Ehlers Danlos, because doing the set of tests would hurt me and damage my joints more than the average person with Ehlers Danlos, because all of my major joints are too lax and already too damaged. When I attempted to argue and demonstrate it would be possible to do the tests I dislocated my shoulder. She looked at me, rolled her eyes, and told me she would send me to geneticists to find out what implications there are for the condition of my heart and other internal organs.
